It is aimed at those people who are perhaps already teaching in the Lifelong Learning Sector, and who now have to gain recognised teaching qualifications, or at those people who are perhaps investigating the possibility of working in the sector.

What is the Preparing to Teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector course?
This is the first of a new suite of qualifications leading towards QTLS (Qualified Teacher Learning Sector).
It is aimed at those people who are perhaps already teaching in the Lifelong Learning Sector, and who now have to gain recognised teaching qualifications, or at those people who are perhaps investigating the possibility of working in the sector. The qualification has been designed to provide a stepping stone to a qualification which will enable a teacher to gain either ATLS (Associate Teacher) or QTLS (Full Teacher Role)
NB An interview is required before you can enrol on this course.

- Appropriate teaching and learning approaches in specialist area.
- Session planning.
- Delivering inclusive sessions.
- Motivating learners.
- Different assessment methods.
- Record keeping.
This award is 1 Unit Award made up of five sections. These five sections cover candidates†understanding of variety of issues involved in teaching in the Lifelong Learning Sector.
The Award is offered at two levels.
Level 3 is aimed at those people who are not yet teaching, or who are teaching in a role where there is little or no opportunity to be involved in the planning process of courses and lessons.
Level 4 is aimed at those who are already working in what might be termed a -traditional teaching role i.e. responsible for both planning and delivery of courses.
Assessment details
Assessment is via a series of theoretical and practical assignments which are set and completed during the course.
Progression
Certificate in Teaching in the Lifelong Learning Sector (CTTLS) City & Guilds Certificate No.7304 at either Level 3 or 4 depending on job role.
Notes
This is a Learning & Skills Council (LSC) funded course and you may be exempt from the tuition fee, however, you would be required to pay the registration fee at the time of application.
