Introduction:
This short course provides the opportunity to develop skills and knowledge in the prevention and control of infections. This will include the updating of existing skills and knowledge and developing new skills and strategies to combat infections.

Study Mode & Location:
This is a part-time course. You can study at Preston College or another suitable location

Course Content:
The units you will study are as follows:

Unit 201 - The Principals of Infection Prevention and Control

Unit 202 - Causes and Spread of Infection

Unit 203 - Cleaning, Decontamination and Waste Management

Assessment:
Assessment consists of a written assignment for each unit which will be presented in a portfolio and include a short induction section.

An audit of a care setting is required.

An observation of hand washing and correct use of PPE is carried out to generate evidence for part of unit 201.

Careers & Progression Opportunities:
Successful completion of this course will provide students with seven credits on the QCF and enable students to work safely in care settings.

How To Apply
You will need to have an informal interview with an Adult Admissions Adviser.
Many courses have limited places so please enquire as soon as possible. Following interview, the earliest you may enrol is mid-June.
