About this course


Alongside theory you will put your learning into practice by taking part in placements to prepare you for your career. We have excellent relationships with dozens of carefully selected primary schools in north London and the Home Counties and many of our students secure their first job with a placement host. This is a highly competitive course and we are seeking outstanding candidates with the right acumen, experience and skills to become excellent teachers.

It is essential that you have two weeks work experience in a public school in the UK or Republic of Ireland primary context before you start the programme. Please also note that you are required to have at least 5 days experience in a primary school before attending your interview as your interview questions will relate to your experience. To begin the course you must also complete a satisfactory DBS check and an Occupational Health check.

We are unable to accept applications for deferred entry or defer existing offers for this programme to the next possible start date.

Course programme

As a primary school teacher you are expected to demonstrate a sound knowledge of all the subjects in the curriculum for Key Stages 1 and 2. You will study the core subjects of English, Mathematics and Science throughout the degree. Art, PE, RE, Humanities, Design Technology and provide a curriculum balance for the other three subjects to be studied at depth. IT and Computing also features heavily within the course.

In the final semester you also have the opportunity to study abroad in Australia, USA or Europe.
