About this course

Course Benefits ​Excellent preparation for studying a PGCE or other teacher training routes in Primary Physical Education.
You will have the chance to gain teaching, coaching and volunteering experience in the UK or abroad in the USA, Africa or Australia.
You will have the opportunity to achieve a Certificate in Fitness Instructing (Level 2) and NGB Coaching Award.​

Typically, our entry offer for this degree course is 112 UCAS tariff points.
Other requirements: For the old GCSE system we require grade C or above and for the new GCSE grading system we will accept grade 4 or higher in English Language and Maths.  GCSE Science is usually preferred but not essential.​​

Course Information Physical Education in primary schools contributes to the overall education of children by developing fundamental movement skills and applying these to a wide range of activities. You will learn how to promote active, inclusive and enjoyable learning in games, athletic activities, gymnastics, dance, swimming and outdoor adventure activities. This is aligned with the knowledge you will gain of sports development, so that you are able to enhance and strategically promote sport and physical activity opportunities, not only in schools but in the wider community for all ages and abilities. All students will have the opportunity to achieve a Certificate in Fitness Instructing (Level 2) plus many other sports coaching awards.  You will learn through a range of delivery styles, by an enthusiastic team of l​ecturers, many of whom have had experience in these roles in their careers. Your course will involve practical learning opportunities where you will apply your learning in real-life situations so that you are able to fully enhance your career opportunities when you graduate.
