Programme Description:
This programme provides knowledge of kitchen and restaurant operations and the development of high quality practical skills. The content of this qualification will ensure that students build on the foundation skills developed in the level 1 Diploma or within the workplace. Learners will be able to prepare, cook and serve a range of commodities. Learners will complete a NVQ Diploma in Professional Cookery during the academic year. As a part of the programme learners will also complete a Level 2 NVQ Diploma in Food and Beverage Service. Essential Skills and the Welsh Baccalaureate Qualification are also part of this programme. Opportunities will also be provided for GCSEs in English and Mathematics and Welsh Language development.

Progression and Employment:
This qualification will allow learners to apply for a junior chef/cook position or a chef de rang within the industry where they can further develop their skills or progress to Level 3 in Advanced Professional Cookery. It will give the learner the opportunity to apply into the fields of welfare or hotel and restaurant catering.
