Course programme
This course is ideal for people who wish to embark on a career as a chef with an aim to develop skills for working in the industry. You will be introduced to the hospitality industry and learn basic food preparation and cooking, using kitchen equipment, food commodities, healthy eating and food safety in catering.
Campus specific information:
Crosskeys Campus delivers the Certificate Level 1 General Food and Beverage Service as an additional qualification. You will experience a realistic working environment in the campus kitchen and restaurant, Morels, where you will either be cooking for or serving the general public.
What is expected from a learner studying this course?
You must show an enthusiasm for the hospitality and catering industry. You will need to be self motivated, hardworking and numerate and have a friendly personality. Attendance and punctuality for all sessions is a major requirement of this course. You will also be required to attend a weekly or block work placement.
