2. Course description This course is ideal for students who have completed their Level 1 and wish to develop their skills further and gain employment within the Catering and Hospitality industry. If you have a passion for cooking and producing great tasting food this is the course for you.This course develops the skills already gained to a greater depth and allows students to develop and practice the skills required for employment and/or career progression in the catering and hospitality industry.

Entry requirements Merit or distinction in VRQ Level 1 Professional Cookery  A good reference A satisfactory interview or 2 GCSEs grade C (Including English Language) and 2 grade Ds, plus relevant industry experience A good reference A satisfactory interview 4. Equipment required As a student you may be asked to supply folders and writing materials. You will be able to take home some food items for a small charge. Uniform and kit will be required which costs approximately £250.00, this will include books and safety shoes. If you are progressing from Year 1 to Year 2 you are only required to purchase the year 2 text book.You may need to attend occasional external catering events to broaden your experience.You may also need to work on occasional evenings and extra days to run the college restaurant. 5. Assessment method There will be set work to complete at home, i.e.: complete assignments and course work.The assignment tasks are presented to candidates when judged ready for assessment. Assignments are graded pass, merit or distinction and detailed marking and grading criteria are provided for each assignment. All assignments are internally marked, graded, quality assured and a sample will be externally moderated.The final qualification will be a VRQ Level 2 Diploma in Professional Cookery.Level 2 CIEH Award in Food Safety if required.
