Professional Industry Practice in London details

  • Professional Industry Practice

This course has been developed to provide students with a clear insight into the organisational, political and economic structures necessary for the development, production, finance and distribution of film, broadcast and new media productions.

You will gain a deep insight into the dynamics of team work and a thorough understanding of contemporary industry practice and dynamics. This programme will introduce, explore and contextualise the industry on a practical level so that you are able to take advantage of established and innovative practice and apply it to the production of your own projects.

Learning Objectives:

  • To be able to demonstrate competence in contemporary industry practice in all its manifestations, recognising how the roles involved in production and distribution impact on your work
  • To have a critical awareness of the theoretical frameworks and contemporary cultural, political and ethical perspectives relevant to your particular discipline
  • To be able to display and utlise knowledge of the film and broadcast industry, including inter alia the influence on such factors as the development, production, financing, regulation, distribution and successful commercialisation of film to create viable film products
  • To be able to develop, communicate and deliver creative ideas, both working alone and collaboratively as part of a team, displaying awareness of the ethical implications of film production and working practice
  • To have a range of specific creative, editorial and technical skills required for all aspects of film production and television programming
