The programme is designed for visual effects (VFX) professionals with significant experience in their field who want to gain a master's degree that focuses on their current work within the sector. You will be able claim recognition for your prior learning and thus gain academic credit that can count towards the degree and enable completion of it at an accelerated rate.
You will be required to expand on your existing skillset within and to undertake a large work based project.

About this course
We have developed an innovative approach that includes the development of leadership and management within the VFX sector, delivered as a part time programme of study for working professionals.
Current employment in the visual effects industry at a senior level as well as evidence of the likelihood of continuing employment while undertaking the programme
At least five years' experience working in the visual effects industry and/or a relevant Level 6 qualification such as a bachelor's degree with honours in a relevant area.

English language requirements
Competence in English language, normally Grade C GCSE or an equivalent qualification. The most common English Language requirement for international students is IELTS 6.5 (with minimum 6.0 in all four components).
How is the MA Professional Practice in Visual Effects degree taught?
The learning, teaching and assessment strategies employed constitute a 'blended learning' approach with tutor led individual and group workshops, masterclasses, presentations, discussions and action learning groups delivered through face to face interactions and/or distance learning technologies, including the University's own virtual learning environment.
