Part-Time Programme
Introduction
The programme is run in collaboration with the British Association of Psychotherapists (BAP).
If you are a practitioner working in a variety of settings such as community care, counselling, social services, primary care, mental health and education, this programme will help you gain a psychoanalytic or Jungian analytic perspective on your work. It will also be a useful preliminary qualification if you are considering training as a psychotherapist or wishing to make a career change into therapeutic work generally.
Course Content
Seminars on psychoanalytic or Jungian analytic theories about the nature and development of mental life and key concepts used in clinical work; infant observation over two academic years and weekly discussion seminars; academic child and lifespan development studies; work study seminars, where psychoanalytic or Jungian analytic understandings are used to illuminate experience in the work setting.
Empirical (usually linked to infant observation) or theoretical dissertation, which may cover concepts or issues related to any of the components above.
