Course programme
You study three core modules: Academic Study Skills, Psychology and Sociology. You will also choose one optional subject from: Economics, English Literature, History or Politics.
You will also have a personal tutor who will support you during the year and will advise you on your application to higher education.
The course requires 2.5 days attendance per week. You will also be expected to undertake private study of 10-15 hours a week in addition to this.
Applicants are required to have a minimum grade C in GCSE mathematics. A Level 2 qualification in organisational and administrative skills or equivalent work experience would also be advantageous. There is an entry test and interview for every candidate.
Assessment is by coursework and occasional written examinations.
You can progress on to a range of possible degrees in Psychology or related degrees including Clinical Psychology, Counselling, Child Development, Criminology, Human Resources and Marketing. The course tutor for the Psychology route and our careers and Higher Education advisors will give you advice and guidance on this, and on your application to university.
