PROHEALTH TRAINING CPCAB Level 5 Diploma in Psychotherapeutic Counselling

This qualification is intended for candidates who have acquired the CPCAB Level 4 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling or its RPL (prior learning) equivalent and wish to continue to develop their understanding and skills in order to:

  • establish and maintain an appropriate framework for independent practice;
  • practice as a senior counsellor within an agency;
  • develop their proficiency to work with clients at CPCAB Service Level B2
  • deepen their ability to work with the counselling relationship;
  • develop their proficiency in one particular counselling approach;
  • facilitate understanding of working in health settings; and
  • carry out client assessments (including identifying and referring clients with severe and complex mental health problems). The course is a Level 5 nationally recognised qualification which has an induction session and then runs for either 18 weeks for 7 hours or 34 weeks for 3 hours and has a ½ hour tutorial slot, which can take place before or after the session, depending on the time of day. The taught hours total 126 with 9 hours of tutorials. Compulsory tutorials will take a study based format related to the course material. Further to this you will need to undertake 2 hours of self study per week, some of which may be via the virtual learning environment. You may request additional tutorials for personal support. The Diploma in Psychotherapeutic Counselling is validated by the Counselling and Psychotherapy Central awarding body (CPCAB). Proficiency is assessed internally by your course tutor throughout the course and externally by the awarding body.
