Supervision This qualification is for experienced counsellors who want to learn the skills of supervision to supervise counsellors working at service levels A and B. Participants will need to have access to both supervisees and supervisory supervision and be themselves working as counsellors under supervision.
The course is a Level 6 nationally recognised qualification which has an induction session and then runs for 12 weeks. Each session lasts for 7 hours and has a ½ hour tutorial slot, which can take place before or after the session, depending on the time of day. The taught hours total 91 with 6 hours of tutorials. Compulsory tutorials will take a study based format related to the course material. Further to this you will need to undertake 2 hours of self study per week, some of which may be via the virtual learning environment.
You may request additional tutorials for pastoral support should you be experiencing difficulties of a personal nature.
The Certificate in Therapeutic Counselling Supervision is validated by the Counselling and Psychotherapy Central awarding body (CPCAB).
Proficiency is assessed internally by your course tutor throughout the course and externally by the awarding body. CPCAB and Prohealth Training Centre require that you attend a minimum of 80% of the taught course in order to meet necessary guidelines. During this course you will also experience tutor observation and group training supervision and this is usually in relation to the client work undertaken in your taped assignment.
