And those wishing to teach young people and vulnerable adults may have to undergo a CRB (Criminal Records Bureau) check.


They is no entry requirements for the course however an initial assessment may be carried out for the assessment of needs for learners.

The qualification Preparing to teach in the lifelong sector (PTLLS) is for those you wish to work in a teaching role. It’s the new qualification required for ‘All new staff in the Learning and Skills Sector whose main role is teaching, training or tutoring…’. It replaces many other courses available before such as train-the-trainer, City & Guilds 7302 Certificate and Diploma in Delivering Learning (Level 3), City & Guilds 7407 Certificate in Further Education Teacher (Level 4), City & Guilds 7318 Learning and Development awards (Level 3).

Comments: The Btec Edexcel Preparing to teach in the lifelong learning sector (PTLLS) will increase your employment opportunities. You can work as a trainer, associate trainer, instructor, facilitator, home schooling, work based tutor, one to one tutor and teacher. Although the course syllabus will provide you with the basic knowledge needed to pass the assessment, our instructors will also demonstrate to you the real life practicalities of being a teacher, trainer or instructor, so that when you eventually start work you will feel much more confident in your new role
