Environmental and public health is a major concern to communities both locally and internationally.
Why study BSc Public and Environmental Health at Middlesex University?
Our degree explores the issues of public health from a national and international perspective. You will analyse and evaluate environmental and public health problems in scientific, technical and managerial terms, while developing an informed, critical and imaginative attitude.
During the course you will explore how localised health issues impact upon communities globally and discover how pandemics can affect local communities facing political environmental and social challenges. Our students graduate with deep knowledge of the ten key areas of public health practice.

Course programme

Year 1 focuses on developing your knowledge with an emphasis on key skills in risk assessment and legal interpretation together with core sciences to underpin your scientific knowledge. After successfully completing Year 1 you will be awarded the Certificate in Environmental Health and, if you wish, you can leave the course at this point.

Year 2 is focused on developing practical competences and in the final year you will look closely at concepts of health promotion and education to improve health.

What will you gain?

The purpose of public health is to improve health and wellbeing as well as preventing diseases, which ultimately prolong life and so reduce social inequalities. The course provides you with the key skills and competences necessary to meet these objectives.
