Course programme

Public health is about affecting the wellbeing of entire populations. It’s a fascinating field which extends into almost every part of our lives. If you’re interested in working in this area, our degree course provides a solid foundation for a range of careers.

This course looks at major factors which affect the wellbeing of large numbers of people.

Whether you’re already working as a health professional or just beginning your career, and whether you see your future in local public services or in global non-governmental organisations, this fascinating course prepare you for the future. It looks at a wide range of public health issues in the UK, Europe and around the world – and the role of the public health professional in addressing these issues.

When you graduate, you’ll be able to identify vulnerable individuals, groups or communities. Working with a range of other agencies and professional disciplines, you’ll develop and apply preventative or remedial strategies.

Here at Anglia Ruskin, you’ll be taught by a team of research-active staff. Our Professor Jenny Secker was awarded the 2009 Arts and Health Award from the Royal Society of Public Health. We have regular guest lectures from leading figures, such as the Chief Executive of the Royal Society for Public Health.

Our course adheres to the government’s New Public Health Strategy, so when you graduate you’ll be familiar with the strategy and ready to contribute to its desired outcomes.

Our teaching and research team has close links with the UK’s Public Health Association, the Chartered Institute for Environmental Health and other professional bodies. Our faculty is one of the few in the UK to be recognised by the Royal Institute for Public Health.

Please note that some teaching takes place in the summer period.
