About the Course
The BTEC First Diploma course covers six units in one year, including three Core Units:
• Uniformed public services employment where you select the service you want to apply to.
• Public service skills where you will investigate the importance of teamwork.
• Uniformed public service fitness. Looking at major body systems, basic nutrition and your fitness.
You will also study three Additional Units such as:
• The value of sport and recreation in the uniformed public services.
• Crime and its effects on society, where you will investigate a local Crime Reduction Intitiative.
• Driving and its relationship the public services. Research the requirments for pre and post-test driving, the importance of road safety campaigns and the role of emergency services in responding to road traffic collisions.
This is a full-time course of practical activities, visits to Armed Forces establishments or taking part in events arranged through the uniformed public services, including the police and fire service. Lessons will be complemented by IT Key Skills. You will be required to re-sit GCSE English or Mathematics if your grade is less that C.

Fees
No Course Fees for Under 19's. Over 19's must pay, or claim Level 2 or Level 3 Entitlement for FREE courses .
What next?
You may go directly to employment in the armed forces, emergency services or prison service, or you can choose to study for the BTEC National Certificate or Diploma if you achieve at least a Merit.
