We offer two pathways at this level: Preparation for Level 3 Public Services and Practical Preparation for Public Service Work. Preparation for Level 3 Public Services is for students who are interested in a career in the emergency services, armed forces and other uniformed public services and require an introduction to the concepts and skills required to achieve at level 3. Practical Preparation for Public Service Work is for students who have an interest in working in the emergency services and armed forces. You will be expected to demonstrate high levels of self discipline in terms of attendeance, punctuality and behaviour as your course prepares you physically and mentally for working the public services

Course programme

Units you will study include: Working in the Emergency Services and Armed Forces Skills for Public Service Work Community Protection Health, Fitness and Lifestyle You will benefit from meeting people currently working in the emergency services and armed forces. You will be assessed through coursework and a 1 hour exam. The course is delivered in the classroom and the outdoors. You will also be expected to travel to alternative venues for some activities and events. This course will be delivered at the Technology Campus and Keighley College. Advice on careers and further study will be given during the course. After successful completion of the course, students may seek employment or an apprenticeship in the public sector or apply for a level 3 course in Public Services.
