Public Speaking
What will the course cover? (contents, themes, projects)
  • The basic skills of structuring and presenting a short speech, either formal or informal

  • Relaxation techniques and the establishing of a tension-free body alignment, together with an awareness of how physical tension can affect the voice

  • Technical exercises to develop breath capacity and support, resonance, variety of pitch and intonation, and to improve clarity of speech generally
    What can I expect to achieve?
    By the end of this course you should be able to:

  • Give the appearance of being relaxed and at ease in front of an audience

  • Communicate with conviction and to the desired effect

  • Demonstrate effective vocal delivery.

  • Establish a basic programme of exercises for on-going vocal development which will serve your specific needs.
    How will I be taught?
    The course work is mainly practical and experiential, supported by relevant hand-outs.
