WRIGHT Foundation Research, the International Charity Research Network and the Royal Surrey County Hospital NHS Trust today launched their Pulmonary Rehabilitation Training Course and UK qualification, in a unique collaboration.

WRIGHT Foundation Research are the UK leader of specialist health and exercise training courses for health and exercise professionals in dealing with chronic health problems. Together with the Royal Surrey County Hospital NHS Trust they have written a course for exercise and health professionals, to be used in leisure and activity centres, once the patient has completed their hospital treatment.

This is the first such collaboration UK wide between an International Research Foundation and an NHS Trust. It is aimed at spreading throughout the UK, centres which can provide classes with instructors fully qualified to ensure the safety and well being of Pulmonary Sufferers in a community setting, such as leisure centres, clubs and community.

Exercise professionals will be trained in exercise techniques that can be used effectively with Pulmonary clients. The clients, who can suffer from a number of pulmonary conditions such as COPD, bronchitis, asthma or emphysema, are assisted through exercises that, when taken regularly under supervision, can make a significant difference. The exercises will enable the sufferer to lead a more normal life.

Mr Murdo Wallace, Chairman and Founder of WRIGHT Foundation Research (Reg'd Charity No.SCO37179) welcomed the new initiative. “This unique joint venture will mark a difference to the lives of Pulmonary sufferers in the UK. We look forward to bringing this new rehabilitation system to fitness/leisure centres around the UK and eventually across Europe through the WRIGHT Foundation.”

Chief Executive of The Royal Surrey County Hospital NHS Trust, Nick Moberly said, “I am delighted that the Royal Surrey County Hospital NHS Trust and the Wright Foundation have come together to further develop and deliver this course for the benefit of patients with chronic lung conditions.”

WRIGHT Foundation Research is committed to benefiting health through proven exercise/activity interventions.
