Key Topics Unit 01 – use the camera and accessories to create images (regulators' accredited unit No. L/600/8776) This unit introduces candidates to using a camera (either digital or film) and accessories, and understanding the controls and settings in order to produce well framed, correctly exposed and sharp images. During this unit learners will develop photographic skills by producing a range of exploratory images. Learners will be introduced to basic visual language and composition. This work will be built upon to produce a portfolio in unit 03. Guided learning hours: 30, credit value: 4 Unit 02 – understand and apply image production skills (regulators' accredited unit No. R/600/8777) This unit covers the production of prints using either digital or film-based techniques and processes. It may include darkroom work, film processing, digital manipulation and printing processes. Guided learning hours: 30, credit value: 4 Unit 03 – Produce and evaluate a range of photographic images (regulators' accredited unit No.Y/600/8778) In this unit learners will produce a portfolio of images on a chosen theme. They will also research and comment on the work of photographers who have explored a related theme. The learner will write an evaluation of their work, they use a visual language, techniques and intentions and will review their own achievements. Guided learning hours: 30, credit value: 5
