Our classes combine modern Mindfulness meditation techniques with ancient Qigong exercises for a unique and uplifting experience for mind, body and spirit!
Our sessions are non-religious, and are open to all faiths, ages and abilities - we welcome everyone from inquisitive beginners to more advanced students...
Mindfulness means learning to live in the here and now, rather than in the past or present. Through our simple guided meditations you will learn techniques to help you relax, let go of worries, and keep a healthy ‘inner balance’ by stilling your mind. Research suggests that mindfulness meditation may improve mood, decrease stress, and boost immune functions.
Qigong is an ancient Chinese form of meditation and exercise that is becoming increasingly popular in the West and which offers many benefits including improved physical suppleness, flexibility and posture, as well as helping reduce levels of stress and anxiety, and aiding deep relaxation. We teach 'Zhan Zhuang' style (standing pole) Qigong - a simple yet powerful traditional form of Qigong that can take a few sessions to learn but years to master. Unlike Tai Chi, our Qigong focuses on feeling and cultivating your own 'Qi' (pronounced 'chee'), without the distraction of learning lots of complicated moves.
The format of a normal class session is:
- Introductory teaching
- Opening guided Mindfulness meditation
- Warm up exercises (including 'Eight Silken Brocade')
- Qigong stance practice
- Feedback / discussion and refreshments
