An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Faculty of Engineering at Colchester Institute. Due to rapid expansion and an industry skills shortage TES2000, a Colchester based railway engineering company, require up to 40 individuals to be employed as apprentices within their company over the next 12 months.

About this course
You will attend College for four days each week (28 hours) where you will work towards the City & Guilds 2850-10 Certificate in Engineering Level 1.
You will attend a weekly half day work placement with TES2000, where you will also be monitored for your suitability to the programme.
There will be a probationary period for the first two week of attendance. You will be assessed throughout the course for your suitability for employment.

Course programme
Rail track maintenance workers and skilled technicians play a key role in ensuring the infrastructure systems that make up the rail network are installed and maintained to correct standards, to ensure the safe and efficient running of the railway. Due to rail industry health and safety requirements applicants must be over the age of 18.
An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Faculty of Engineering at Colchester Institute. Due to rapid expansion and an industry skills shortage TES2000, a Colchester based railway engineering company, require up to 40 individuals to be employed as apprentices within their company over the next 12 months.
Applicants are required to undertake an initial eight week Pre-Apprenticeship training programme. You will attend College full-time four days a week and a further half day a week with TES2000, gaining work experience and additional training. During this programme you will be continually monitored, for commitment, attitude and work ethic.

Course Content / Modules

Please note:
- You will be provided with overalls and safety glasses.
- You will need to supply your own toetector safety boots (industry standard).
Entry Requirements
4 GCSEs (grades A* – D), or equivalent, including English, maths and science.
Career Opportunities
At the end of the eight week programme students will be given the opportunity to attend a job interview with TES2000. Those who are successful will progress to an employed position with TES2000, with further study to level 2 (Intermediate Apprenticeship).

Considering an apprenticeship?

You can apply for both an apprenticeship, and a full-time course as your back up,
but note that you will need to do some research to find an employer willing to take you on as an apprentice
if you do not already have one.
