  • Before that course I was only able to toast bread... Now I have prepared several three course meals and have impressed my family! It was really fun, the teachers are great at communication and the recipes were easy to follow, but delicious. I highly suggest this course to anyone who is thinking about it.

Course programme

Product Description

The Avenue’s Really Useful and Chalet Course specialises in teaching gap year and university students a unique mix of cooking and useful everyday skills.

By the end of this 5 day intensive programme you will have progressed from a tentative white sauce maker to a confident soufflé chef.

This course has been designed to guide the inexperienced through a week of well planned, traditional recipes and techniques. We offer “hands on” courses offering plenty of help and support but at the same time explaining that there is no better route to success than practice.

Every Thursday there is the, now famous, dinner party for students and their friends. This popular dinner is organised, cooked and hosted by the students. Fantastic introduction to cooking for numbers.

Emphasis is made on affordable eating for those budgeting for university, gap years and chalet hosting, providing a wonderful start to an independent life.

For those doing the Duke of Edinburgh Gold Award Scheme this can be a residential course with four nights stay at our Avenue recommended accommodation. Students will stay in groups of five or more and will have evening activities organised. All accommodation is local.

This course is great for those wanting do a chalet course who have just a week to do it in.
