About this course

A mature and motivated attitude is essential. All applicants need to be aged 18 or over on commencement of the course. The applicants attitude and suitability for the course will therefore influence selection. Learning support is available to those who upon initial assessment show a need. A minimum of 80% attendance is required by the Awarding Body.

Description
Reflexology is a form a treatment based on the belief that the body is dependent upon energy flows which can be improved through specific massage of feet, hands and ears.

The treatment is primarily used for stimulation of systems, relaxation, stress relief and alleviation of minor symptoms to assist life changes. It is frequently provided by Health Service personnel as an extra skill and particularly in its palliative role with terminally ill patients.

The qualification requires 40 case studies to be undertaken.
Additional advanced practical techniques are also included and will therefore enhance existing Reflexology Skills.

The qualification meets all the requirements for Reflexologists in general practice.

One Year (Two evenings)

What will I study?
The Diploma in Reflexology consists of:

Unit 301 - Principles and practices of Complementary and alternative therapies
Unit 309 - Prepare for and provide Reflexology
Unit 303 - Anatomy, Physiology and Pathology

How will I learn?


How will I be assessed?
Units are assessed internally and externally.

A portfolio of assessment evidence will be developed and produced at the end of the course.

The date of the external written tests are set by the awarding body, therefore candidates may have to attend these tests on days and times when not normally in College.

The dates of these tests will be given out at induction.

Where could it lead?
City & Guilds qualifications in complementary Therapies, Aromatherapy, Body Massage, Indian Head Massage and Beauty Therapy.

Employment/self employment as a qualified therapist in private practice, in a salon or in the health sector such as hospitals, hospices and health practices.
