Course Marketing Title
Refocus Level 2 Award in Workskills.

Overview
This specialist course offers you the chance to gain a qualification and make you more ‘work ready’. We will help you build your confidence, skills and expertise to support your application onto further training or study programmes at Stockport College. You’ll learn practical skills to help you when communicating with others and our team will encourage and support you along the way. You’ll complete individual and group work to help you identify appropriate skills, behaviours and expertise required for a career in your chosen industry.

Entry Requirements
All applications will be considered on an individual basis. In all cases, English and maths assessments will be undertaken as part of the application process. If you have sat GCSEs in English and maths in the last two years, you will be expected to have gained a grade D in order to achieve a grade C or above on this course.

Course Duration
One year, full-time

Skills and Benefits
You will study the BTEC Level 2 Award in workskills alongside GCSE or Functional Skills English and maths. The programme will give you a broad range of skills required for the work place and good foundations for further academic study and an opportunity to improve your grades at English and maths.

Mandatory Units
Academic development - develop and improve own learning and research skills English - develping spoken and written language skills Maths - everyday maths that incorporates problem solving skills

Optional Units
There are no optional units on this qualification.

Course Assessment
This is portfolio based which includes written and practical assignments, presentations and projects.

Progression
The Refocus Employability programme has been designed to improve your chances of progressing on to the course of your choice or employment by ensuring that you have the knowledge, skills and understanding that are relevant, current and useful for potential employers. On successful completion of one of these learning programmes you can progress onto a variety of Level 3 courses at the College.
