Reiki (part 1)

Reiki is a simple, natural and safe method of spiritual healing and self-improvement that everyone can use. It has been effective in helping many illnesses and generally creates a beneficial effect. It also works in conjunction with other medical or therapeutic techniques to relieve side effects and promote recovery. A simple technique to learn, the ability to use Reiki is not taught in the usual sense, but is transferred to the student during a Reiki class. This ability is passed on during an "attunement" given by a Reiki master and allows the student to tap into an unlimited supply of "life force energy" to improve one's health and enhance the quality of life.Reiki is a sequence of hand positions, starting from the head and working down a person’s body. People feel Reiki in different ways. Most often during a treatment the energy is experienced as warmth, others may feel a mild tingling, whilst others may feel a pleasant pulsing sensation. Some people don’t feel any physical sensation, rather a mental or emotional change, such as a sense of calmness or peacefulness. For all, a Reiki treatment is deeply relaxing, and some people fall asleep. First degree training teaches Reiki for use on oneself and others present. Second degree teaches more advanced techniques on others present and also for people who are not with the practitioner at the time. To become a Reiki Master, second degree practitioners must spend time on a one-to-one basis with a Master.
