COURSE OUTLINE
This is offered as an AS Level course*. The course is an introduction to Moral Philosophy; the focus is on important ethical theories and contrasting approaches to solving moral dilemmas. You will study classic theories such as Utilitarianism, Situation Ethics and a Religious Perspective, and you will apply these theories to issues such as pollution, conservation, abortion, euthanasia, and sexual ethics. Along the way, we will be asking some hard questions - "Are we free?" "What is a good person?" and "Is there such a thing as truth?" "Is all life valuable?"
You will be given skills to examine these issues in a critical and analytical way, to the highest academic standards. This course is right for students who can cope with radical and challenging ideas regardless of whether or not they have any
religious beliefs of their own.
Unit 1: Religion and Ethics 1
Unit 2: Religion and Ethics 2
This is a highly respected academic course that is welcomed by employers and universities.*If at the end of the AS course you would like to progress to A2 then this is possible (conditions do apply).
