This two week practical course is designed to give you a thorough introduction to the skills needed for rendering, plaster-boarding and skimming. During the course you will learn the following;
· How to apply your first coat render with a scratch finish
· How to apply your second coat ender and level off with a feather edge
· The differences between interior and exterior finishes
· Cutting and applying corner beads to block pillars and ensuring they are plumb
· Measuring and cutting plasterboard to the required size
· Fixing plasterboard to wooden batons
· Scrimming all joins and corners
· Mixing plaster correctly and applying it to plasterboard with a smooth polished finished
On completion of the course you will received either a certificate of competence from Capital Training (SW) Ltd or OCN Accreditation. You will also receive helpful notes and tips on plastering complete with polygraphic evidence of the work that you have carried out whilst training.
What do I need to bring?
All tools and equipment will be fully provided and demonstrated, you will need to wear safety boots for the duration of the course - you can either supply this yourself or purchase them from us at a cost of £15.
Duration
10 days - Monday Friday - 9.00am to 4.00pm
This one week introductory course is designed to give you an understanding of the practical skills required for plastering and to build your confidence and knowledge.
During the week you will learn the following;
· Applying your first coat render with a keyed finish using lamitex
· Applying your coat render and learning how to level off with a feather edge
· Using a float to apply a rough scratch finish
· Applying corner beads to pillars using laminex
· How to mix plaster and apply plaster to plasterboards with a polished finish
· If you are confident with your trowel skills, you can go on to learn how to skim a ceiling
