This one day report writing course is aimed at business professionals who want to improve their report writing skills.   • Plan the stages for the preparation of the report
  • Assess the readers' needs
  • Follow and/or adapt a recognised, helpful and logical structure
  • Distinguish between facts, conclusions and recommendations
  • Use an accurate, clear and brief writing style following plain English guidelines
  • Consider the style and presentation of a report
  • Edit and proofread documents to ensure accuracy and consistency

Prefer plain words - avoiding padding

Use of the active voice - ensuring a personal and direct style

Techniques for writing shorter sentences

Importance of Terms of Reference

Assessing the needs of the reader

Planning and preparation - including use of Planning tools & Production Model

Constructing a report - distinguishing between facts, conclusions and recommendations

Importance of editing and proofreading
