Course programme
Restorative Yoga for Scoliosis
Scoliosis is a lateral curvature of the spine, usually with rotation. With such an imbalance, the physical and emotional balance may be challenged manifesting in stress at either a physical or mental level. Muscles may hold tension in one area more than the other. Physically some may feel it along the lower back or sacroiliac joint, and others in the neck, shoulder or chest. Commonly, people may experience disturbed emotions like stress, feeling under-capacitated, frustration or depression.
In this workshop, we will practise a series of restorative postures carefully selected for those with scoliosis. These have the potential to alleviate symptoms of discomfort and release psychological tension, thus opening up a new perspective on living with scoliosis. Restorative postures support both the physical and mental body, thereby promoting general well-being. A balance of both a restorative and an active practice is suggested for those working with scoliosis.
