Rigging and Lifting: 3 Day

This course is designed to teach delegates about the technical aspects of lifting operations, appliances and accessories. It includes a detailed explanation of the relevant legislation and regulations, specifically the Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulations (LOLER).

The course also covers planning and risk assessment and includes practical rigging scenarios which cover the performance criteria, range statement and knowledge requirements of national standards of competence. The successful completion of this programme will provide valuable evidence towards a competence qualification.

Successful delagates can continue their training with the NSL competence-based training programme for rigging and lifting operations. The programme is specifically designed to suit the needs of the UK and international oil & gas industry. This is a joint NSL / EAL (EMTA Awards Ltd) initiative covering rigging & lifting levels one and two. The competence portfolios / logbooks cost £300.00 in addition to the training fees.

CONTENT: Current legislation and regulation (including LOLER); HSE guidance; Safety requirements; Planning a rigging operation; Risk assessment; Pre-use inspection; Installation of lifting equipment; Correct slinging of loads; Practical exercises; Errection of capital plant.

This course begins and ends with a written test paper.

COST INCLUDES: Initial registration with EAL; our Instructors / Assessors vetting the first two logs sent in by the delegates (to make sure they are completing them correctly); NSL technical support during the process; assessment of completed portfolios by NSL Assessors; final certification of competence by EAL; a copy of NSL's International Rigging & Lifting Handbook.

DETAILS: This course runs every Monday to Wednesday of each week. This course is currently delivered at one of NSL's training centres, but can be delivered at the client's premises.

PPE REQUIRED: Coveralls, hard hat, safety boots and gloves.

RELATED MATERIALS: Please be aware that NSL also offer a Rigging & Lifting Awareness online eLearning course at £40.00. The International Rigging & Lifting Handbook is also available at £20.00. This handbook can be used to support an eLearning course and can be kept as an on-going reference tool.
