Background to the Course

Year after year people are killed and seriously injured in incidents involving workplace transport. In the extractive and mineral processing industries there are thousands of vehicle movements every day with drivers collecting loads on company sites and delivering them to customer sites including construction, roadbuilding and domestic locations. Our road hauliers transport a diverse range of materials in various types of vehicles to sites that are often congested and busy. They are also out there on the public highways in large numbers in urban and rural locations.
The industry is determined to reduce the incidence of all injuries and this course has been designed specifically to increase the safety awareness of our drivers and to encourage safe behaviour at sites and on the road.
