3. Understand the Russian name system and recognise some common Russian names.
4. Introduce yourself to someone and give some basic information about your family.
5. Talk about what you were doing in the past and where.
6. Ask someone else about their habits, what they do, where they live, where they work etc.
7. Ask for what you want in a shop, order a meal in a restaurant.
8. Say what do you like doing in your leisure time.
9. Tell the time in Russian in whole hours.

Main Grammar Points:
· Recognise the gender of nouns: masculine, feminine and neuter
· The basic rules of the past tense.
· The use of the Genitive case of nouns
· The Prepositional case. The preposition “o” that takes the prepositional case
· Adjectives in the nominative case.
· The Accusative case.
· Conjugation of verbs in the past tense according the gender of pronouns and nouns.
· Verbs in the present tense:
First conjugation of verbs ending in “-ать”.
Other first conjugation verbs.
Second conjugation verbs with ending in “-ить”.
Irregular verbs.
By the end of the course you should be able to communicate with a native Russian speaker who asks you the following questions:
Как Вас зовут?
Где Красная площадь?
Где Вы были? Вы были в Париже?
У Вас есть друг (семья, брат, сестра)?
Где Вы работаете? Где живёте?
Вы говорите по русски?
Вы любите спорт?
Который час?
In trying to choose the correct level, you may have to balance what you know of the language( grammar, vocabulary etc) with you ability to speak it since depending on your personal history of learning the language, you may be stronger in one area than another.
