SAFE HANDLING OF MEDICINES NCFE INTERMEDIATE CERTIFICATE Description
The Certificate in Safe Handling of Medicines is a level 2 programme providing a nationally recognised qualification. This course aims to provide candidates with an understanding of basic pharmacology, routes and methods of safe administration of medicines, responsibility and accountability.
Course Content
There are 5 mandatory modules for successful completion of this course.
The course covers:
- Understanding the importance of accountability and confidentiality
- Supply and storage of medication
- Introduction to medicines
- Documentation and audit
- Administration of medicines
Where a course is aimed towards an assessment/examination, it is expected that all students will enter for the qualification.
Method of Assessment
Assessment is through the completion of assignments and activities relating to each module, which are marked and moderated by BCOT prior to certification.
