Safeguarding Children & Young People Level 2, This distance learning course is aimed at students looking to gain an understanding the principles of safeguarding children and young people.
About this course
Enable learners to recognise their role and take considered action (in relation to their job role
Develop personal skills and communication skills
Develop learners’ understanding of their roles & responsibilities for keeping records and reporting appropriately
Develop the learners’ awareness and basic knowledge of legal procedural frameworks
Develop an awareness and understanding of the wider contexts of services (this encompasses multi-agency working)
Aimed at students looking to gain an understanding the principles of safeguarding children and young people.
Students looking to enrol onto this course should meet the following criteria:
Be aged 16 Years or above
Possess a solid knowledge of the english language - Recommended GCSE Grade C Minimum
Have access to a PC and the internet for the duration of the whole course
Basic computer skills: e.g Word processing, emailing, uploading documents etc
Have a genuine desire to succeed

Unit 1 - Explore and Understandroles in safeguarding and promoting the welfare and children and young people
Understand the meaning of safeguarding children and young people Understand the need to work professionally within a multi agency team
Unit 2 - Understand legislation and policies with safeguard children and young people
Understand the role of the local safeguarding children board (LSCB) Understand the range of legislation and policies relating to children and young people
Understand the process of the Common Assessment Framework
Unit 3 - Develop Personal skills to effectively contribute to the safeguarding of children and young people
Understand the role and value of families and carers as partners in supporting thier children to achieve positive outcomes
Understand the safeguarding roles of parents and caers and recognise factors that can impact on the parenting capacity
Be able to describe strategies for promoting personal safety for children and young people and how parents and carers can get actively involved Be able to develop skills that can identify personal vulnerability and methods for protecting yourself from allegations of abuse.
