If you own your own business or work in a management/supervisory role in a salon this short part-time course – a module from the HNC/D in Hair and Beauty Management qualification – will give you the skills to improve the selling skills of staff and increase the number of sales in your particular area of business. You'll train at our Metro One campus in the city centre which is run as a commercial venture and has industry-standard hair and beauty salons on-site. You will have access to real businesses in order to carry out further research and develop your skills further and will also have opportunities to visit other organisations connected to the industry.

About this course

As this module is part of an HNC/D qualification, you are required to be over 18 years of age and have the following qualifications: Level 3 qualification in hair or beauty Level 2 English - Mature students will be considered in light of relevant work/life experience - Non-EU students are required to have an IELTS or equivalent university qualification

Completion of the module will enable you to: Evaluate how to improve the selling skills of employees in the hair and beauty Evaluate how to improve sales within businesses in the hair and beauty sector What skills will I gain? By studying this module you will: Learn how to evaluate and improve the selling skills of employees, leading to improved sales Gain an understanding of the importance of negotiation, persuasion, integrity & client care during the selling process Evaluate the impact that negotiation skills have on the selling process Study ethical and legal requirements when selling products and treatments Conduct a competitor analysis to ascertain the strengths and weaknesses of competitors in the sector Investigate when, why, how and where customers buy or do not buy & research the impact this has on selling Gain the skills to produce sales targets based on sales forecasts Evaluate methods of training staff to improve their sales How will I be assessed? This is an assignment-based course and there are no exams You will be continually assessed throughout the course via assignments and the production of a detailed portfolio What can I do next? Completion of the module will enable you to: Use the skills you have gained to increase sales in the workplace Continue with further study and progress to the HNC in Hair and Beauty Management
