Course programme

The School Direct programme is a programmes delivered in partnership with schools. The key feature of this programme is that the majority of the year is spent on placement working alongside experienced colleagues in schools. The programme aims to harness the knowledge and experience of school colleagues in the delivery of programmes, working in partnership with the experience of accredited ITT providers such as universities. Schools, and the mentors within them, provide the vast majority of the training. Schools benefit by being more directly involved in student recruitment and the delivery of the programme. This is a cross phase programme, you can study within the Primary or Secondary phase. The programme takes one academic year to complete. There are two School Direct programmes, School Direct (Salaried) and School Direct (Training). It is important that you are clear which of these programmes your school is offering as it will affect your funding for the programme (see Fees and Finance below).
