If you are 19+ wishing to progress to Higher Education, then the Access to HE Diploma in Science has been designed for you to gain the necessary qualifications to fast track to a science degree at university. This course is an academic course which will help you to gain the necessary educational background and to update your skills and knowledge in laboratory work.

The course may enable progression onto degrees in biology, biological sciences, microbiology, applied medicine, pharmaceutical sciences, nutrition and dietetics, biomedicine, radiography, physiotherapy, nursing, midwifery, biochemical engineering, chemical engineering and related degrees in science, technology, maths and engineering.




You will need to have good literacy and numeracy skills. Ideally, you will need to have at least a Grade C in English or maths and be willing to take on the other GCSE subject. Individual cases will be considered at interview.

Course programme

In order to achieve the Access Diploma, you will have to achieve 60 credits; 45 of which will give you an increased understanding of all three science subjects at level 3. You will also be carrying out research and developing your core skills in literacy and numeracy.



Course Assessment Method

There will be a variety of assessments that may include oral presentations, research projects, short answer tests, essays, reports and assignments.
