Access courses are designed as a stepping stone to enable motivated, enthusiastic people to progress on to Higher Education. This is ideal for those who want to re-train or re-direct their lives into forensic science, marine science, chemistry, biology, sustainable construction, renewable energy, sport science, radiology, medical physics, and many other science related university courses. There is a very high level of academic and personal support throughout the course, which can help if you need to combine study with part-time employment and family commitments.

Course programme
All applicants will be invited to attend an interview where full course information is given and you will be expected to complete an Initial Assessment
Applicants who do not hold a GCSE in mathematics or English at grade C or above will be expected to gain these qualifications before or alongside their Access studies. The opportunity to achieve these qualifications will be provided.
Attendance at the College is required three days per week for one year. You will study a range of units at level 3 (equivalent to A level). Each unit is worth 3 credits. For successful completion of the access course you will need 60 credits overall. The 60 credits are made up of 45 credits from your main subject areas* and 15 credits from your core units, which are designed to prepare you for academic study at university level.
