This course introduces students to a wide range of skills and knowledge You will learn the skills required to carry out a range of laboratory tasks Some of the units are: Chemistry of Production, Chemical Design, Science of Health, Science of the Earth, Physics in Sport, Science of Telecommunications The units are taught by a combination of lectures, workshops, practical exercises and independent research study
How will I be assessed?Assessment is continuous throughout the course and consists of Practical coursework, presentations and assignments to build a portfolio of work
What may it lead to?Learners can progress onto BTEC level 3 Nationals in Applied Science, including the Forensic Science and Medical Science pathways or go into Employment
Entry RequirementsEntry to the course is subject to a successful interview, good reference, plus one of the following: 4 GCSEs at grade D or above (including Science, English and Maths) or a Level 1 Diploma in Applied Science and functional skills at Level 1
Additional Information & Other CostsYou will have the opportunity to broaden your knowledge of the science sector through organised visits to local industries such as the Greenwich Observatory and the Science Museum There may also be the opportunity to study on a Science Conference with the Royal Institute held at Disneyland Paris
