COURSE STRUCTURE

Your weekend will be relaxing and inspiring and you will benefit from lots of support, encouragement and 1:1 guidance from your experienced tutor. You will be amazed at how quickly you learn and very soon you will start to see your own style developing as your confidence grows and you start to take on more challenging acrylic painting projects.

Saturday Morning
Introduction to acrylic paints – properties, equipment and techniques
Understanding colour theory – learning about the many properties of colour so that you will be able to exploit these in your painting.

Saturday Afternoon
Tonal modelling using neutral colours – a still life of simple shapes and colours will be set. You will work with a limited palette to create solid shapes. Appropriate techniques and careful colour mixing will be used.

Sunday Morning
Tonal modelling using related or analogous colours – a different still life will be set for you to further experiment with colour mixing, technique and tonal contrast. This time you will use colours that are close to each other on the colour wheel creating a pleasing composition.

Sunday Afternoon
Tonal modelling using colour – Several small still life collections of colourful fruit and vegetables of varied texture will be set up. You will paint these using skills acquired so far in the course. You will try to achieve tonal contrast through use of colour and experiment with texture through use of technique.
