What will the course cover? (contents, themes, projects)
Plaster press and waste moulds, piece moulds, and use of flexible mould-making materials.
Casting in plaster and resin based materials.
For more complex 3-D moulds, students are required to bring along 2 sculptures/objects, 1 small and simple clay sculpted object of max 25cm squared, and 1 small clay 'relief' sculpture of approx 15cm squared.
Other alternative objects will be available to cast if students are unable to bring these.
What can I expect to achieve?
Be familiar with a variety of traditional and contemporary mould-making processes.
Have the confidence to find and apply the most suitable casting methods and materials in the context of individual creative practice for reproduction of artworks.
How will I be taught?
You will be taught in a practical workshop environment, moulding and casting your own sculptures. This will include demonstrations, group, and individual teacher assistance.
