Course programme

Can’t find the perfect dress?

Why not build on your basic sewing skills and create a custom made dress in a with a classic sweet heart neckline. By choosing your own fabric you can make it work for a night on the tiles or a day in the office – after all you’re the designer.

Over the five sessions learn everything from how to use and read a pattern to fabric cutting, putting your garment together and achieving a perfect finish.

On finishing the course you’ll be able to use a pattern confidently, put in a zip and use an overlocker (a sewing machine that cuts the fabric while finishing the edges!). You can make it stand out from the crowd by finishing your garment with an optional ribbon detail.

To get the best from this course you’ll need to be able to thread a machine and bobbin and sew a straight and zig-zag stitch or have taken one of our basic sewing skills courses, Basic sewing machine skills and alterations, or one of our Beginners Sewing courses.
