Shaping Poems - Image-Making

Poetry From Art

Led by award winning poet Pascale Petit.

What makes a poem memorable? In this six-week course we will explore the power of imagery in poetry. Working in the galleries, you will write poetry in response to art through creative writing exercises designed to generate new poems. The special emphasis of this term is how to shape poems and make images with words. We will devote two sessions to group feedback of poems in progress, paying particular attention to imagery. The course will result in a publication on the Tate website.

Time Course: 18.45–20.15

Pascale Petit has published four poetry collections and was twice shortlisted for the TS Eliot Prize. A Next Generation poet, she has been Poetry Editor of Poetry London and was a founding tutor of The Poetry School.
