Shiatsu Foundation Course
The emphasis of this first year of training is on learning the
fundamental theory and practical skills of healing with shiatsu. There is
approximately 4 hours of homework to do each week, partly giving shiatsu
treatments, and partly doing some reading and written work.
COURSE AIMS
1. To introduce you to an Oriental and holistic understanding of health, to
increase your own level of physical, emotional and spiritual health.
Students are expected to actively engage in their own personal growth.
2. For you to learn basic shiatsu skills for the healing of friends and
family, and to aid with a range of common health problems.
3. To lay a solid foundation for the Year Two and Year Three Courses if you
wish to continue your studies to a professional level
By the end of the course students will be confident in giving shiatsu to a
wide range of people, for general relaxation and healing and relief of
minor health problems. Many students also experience real shifts in their
health and life after this course.
Your Choice - we have two identical intakes for the Foundation Year
course, one running from September to June, and another from April to
March. Tuition consists of 10 weekends, some of which are three days long,
and an additional Clinic Day, a total of 27 days or 180 hours of tuition.

Shiatsu techniques for a comprehensive full body treatment.

The philosophy of yin and yang and its application to oriental
medicine.

The location and functions of the 12 classical meridians.

The actions and uses of the major acupressure points.

Oriental diagnosis of the internal health through touch, seeing and
questioning.

Oriental principles of food energetics.

Adapting your shiatsu to different individuals' unique physical and
emotional condition.

The Five Transformations of energy in nature and in human life and
health.

Basic Western anatomy of the body.
Fees
The fees for the Foundation Year Course are £1920; a deposit of £400 is
required to secure a place on the course. The balance of £1520 is due two
weeks before the first day of the course.
We also provide a facility for paying the balance in monthly instalments. We
make an extra charge of £40 for this, to cover our extra banking and
administrative costs. After paying the deposit, the remaining course fee
is divided into 10 monthly payments to be made by Standing Order. We will
provide relevant information for you to arrange this with your bank.

Instalments: £1560 (£1520 + £40) divided into 10 monthly payments of £156, the
first for October 1st 2008 and the last for July 1st 2009.
