About this course

To learn British Sign Language students will need to attend the class regularly. The Sign Language courses are based in London at an accessible location. You must have the desire to be involved with the deaf and learn BSL Level 1. If you succeed in passing the British Sign Language course you can progress on to our BSL Level 2, BSL NVQ certificate Level 3 or BSL Level 6 courses

BSL Level 1

Learn BSL in London at Deaf First who are specialists in providing education, support and qualifications in sign language and other methods of communication used by deaf. As an education centre our aim is to provide deaf people with full access. This course will help you understand the language and communication methods used by Deaf People.

The Level 1 BSL sign language qualification is divided into 3 units, each of which can be achieved separately. Candidates are required to pass all units to gain the qualification. Assessments take place during normal class time.

To help you learn sign language the BSL level 1 course will cover, the topics : meeting people, using numbers, weather, transport, and directions. Topics covered: at home - people, animals and objects, using numbers, interests and activities, and weather. Topics covered: getting around, exchanging information, refreshments, and using numbers.

Next Step: Successful candidates can progress to BSL Level 2 Certificate. We also offer courses in BSL NVQ Level 3 and BSL Level 6 course. So if you want learn BSL at any level the please contact us.
