Autumn term dates: Tuesdays - 22/09/15 to 01/12/15 (fees and times as above) Thursdays - 24/09/15 to 03/12/15 (fees and times as above) Spring term dates:  Tuesdays - 12/01/16 to 22/03/16 (fees and times as above) Thursdays - 14/01/16 to 24/03/16 (fees and times as above) This course will enable you to design and construct your own stunning, original jewellery using silver and semi-precious stonesWe believe the future of research lies in breaking down traditional barriers between academic disciplines so the bigger problems of the 21st century can be considered from human as well as physical perspectives. We have a number of interdisciplinary research themes, which fit closely with international research priorities.

Course programme

You will cover: Introduction to various tools and chemicals to be used including safety instructions Planning pieces of work and what materials to use Looking at designs and ordering materials Look at individuals' work Demonstrations of various projects as and when required by students The format is flexible and may vary. Week 1 - Introductions/Register Introduction to the various tools/chemicals to be used including safety instructions; Ask generally if anyone has any previous experience in making sterling silver jewellery; The aims and objectives of the course will be stated on the individual student project form; You will decide what item you would like to make first and discuss what materials may be required with the tutor. Week 2 - Tutor to hand out materials to students and help them to start their projects through demonstration and discussion; Demonstration and handout on how to make a basic silver ring. Week 3 - You work on your projects with guidance from the tutor. Suggestions and demonstration of ways students might personalise a basic ring by texturing/embellishment. Weeks 4 - 9 - You will continue to work on your projects with guidance from the tutor. Week 10 - You will finish your projects. Opportunity to see other students finished projects.
