Course programme

Black Belts typically lead cross functional Lean and Six Sigma projects from a full time continuous improvement role. They can tackle projects leading or facilitating a cross functional team. Black Belts need to be able to apply the tools and techniques that support a DMAIC or a DFSS approach that is driven by data. Black Belts need to be able to appreciate how a fact based approach leads to the root causes of problems and ensures that correct decisions are made and lasting solutions are implemented.

Our Black Belt curriculum is typically 20 days duration (4 sessions of 5 days) and covers:

Define
Voice of the Customer
Project Selection and Chartering

Measure
Process Mapping Value Stream Mapping 7 Wastes
Measurement System Evaluation
Data Collection
Graphical Analysis
Descriptive Statistics
Process Capability

Analyse
Hypothesis Testing
Correlation and Regression

Takt and Work Balance

Overall Process Effectiveness

Improve
Design of Experiments

mistake Proofing
Implementing Improvements

Control
Statistical Process Control
Control Plans
Transitioning and Closing Projects

Each session of Green Belt training is separated by 3 or 4 weeks when the Green Belts apply their training to their improvement projects. We recommend supporting the Green Belts on their projects in between training sessions and holding stage gate reviews along with leadership and Lean Six Sigma Champions to ensure DMAIC methodology is being rigorously applied.
