Is this course for me?
This course is for you if you are a young person of school
leaving age who is interested in the construction or engineering
sectors but are unsure about what is involved and what career
opportunities exist for you. The programme gives you a
fantastic opportunity to try a wide range of practical vocational
options which are supported by a comprehensive support programme
including literacy and numeracy (functional) skills, plus tutorials
and an integrated enrichment programme.
What will I study?
If you are interested in the construction industry, this course
offers you block taster sessions in painting, brickwork and
carpentry. If you are interested in the engineering
industry you can undertake tasters in electrical installation,
welding and plumbing options.
These tasters will enable you to make informed choices about
your next steps.

Functional Skills English
Functional Skills Maths
Functional Skills ICT
What are the entry requirements?
There are formal entry requirements, however, you will need to
attend an interview and sit an initial assessment test.
How will I be assessed?
Whilst on the course, you will assessed using a portfolio of
work and sit an external examination.
What will it cost?
If you are under 19 and a home student, in most circumstances,
you don't pay any fees. However, you will need to find this out
when you apply.
